FAQ

Why use an independent agent?

An independent agent represents several different insurance companies and is not contractually obligated to choose one insurance company over another. This allows the independent agent the opportunity to find you the best combination of price, coverage, and service. If your insurance needs and service change, they can accommodate that change rather easily. They are truly independent and know that client satisfaction is vital to their success.

What is insurance scoring?

Insurance credit scoring is a process by which the insurance companies gather information from a credit report. They are not credit scores in the traditional sense and are specific to the insurance industry.

Credit-based insurance scores are confidential rankings based on credit history and are not a measure of someone’s financial assets. Instead they are a measure of how well individuals manage their financial affairs. Insurance scores do not include personal information such as race, religion, gender, family or marital status, handicaps, nationality, age, address or income.

How do insurance companies determine rates?

Insurance companies group customers based on similar characteristics (such as age, gender, marital status, etc.). Next they evaluate the number and costs of claims and produce a risk profile for each group. The companies then are able to provide rates that match the risk for each group of customers.

Do I need a life insurance policy?

Almost everyone can benefit from life insurance. It is the best way to ensure that your survivors remain financially secure. Life insurance serves several purposes.

  • It can provide mortgage protection -- ensuring that your family would not need to give up their home.
  • It serves as replacement for income lost by a family wage earner.
  • It can help pay for services provided by a family member who usually works in the home.
